November 2025

This is the penultimate newsletter for 2025 rounding off our second month in the year of wayleave maintenance for Tas Networks. It was great to see so many of you turn up as it makes for a thorough job in spotting and removing weeds, together with eucalypt and acacia saplings. It was also great to be out at this time of year to see some of the beautiful local spring flowers. Thank you to Bruce who identified the masses of tiny flowering ground cover, the twiggy beardheath (Leucopogan virgatus).

Astrid, our long-time convenor, visited Lansdowne Crescent Primary School. She spoke to several classes of children about Knocklofty, the history of the Reserve and, in particular, Janet's Pond - a project that children from the school were involved in 22 years ago.

Hobart City Council hosted the annual Bushcare Christmas event. It was a beautiful evening (no wind or rain showers!) with delicious food and the happy company of folk from all 13 of Hobart's Bushcare groups, together with the hard-working HCC Bushcare staff.
