October 2025

October’s activities were very productive. In the first week we removed a large quantity of red hot pokers, agapanthus, thistles and other weeds along the fire trail near the Mount Stuart car park. Our second activity took place in Providence Gully and everyone worked really hard to remove a large volume of forget-me-knots and thistles.

October was also a special month as Friends of Knocklofty together with the Hobart City Council hosted the annual plant give-away and plant identification walk. Both activities were a great success. All the plants were given away to enthusiastic locals. The walk led by Bruce was appreciated by 18 people who learnt more about the local flora. A very big ‘thank you’ to Bruce for his efforts and continuing commitment!

And finally, the rope removal of large gorse bushes along the upper reaches of Poets Rd escarpments and the Forest Rd entrance track has been completed by our contractor, Dave James.
