June 2026
This month began with some much-needed rainfall, and our first activity was cancelled as a result. We spent our second activity clearing small thistles, gorse and other weeds on the embankment above Bimbadeen Court. Rodney, Rob and Jerry also worked on the Council land on the edge above a private property where there is thick, well-established gorse growth.
In relation to possibly clearing more of this gorse during future activities Sonya and Claire at the Council have investigated the possibility of FoKl obtaining a ‘Permission to Work on Private Land.’ For the time being however, this won’t be possible because the Council is currently revising this (and other documentation) to comply with legal advice.
In other news, earlier this month Rob ran an educational session on the Reserve for Grade One students from Lansdowne Crescent School, inspiring the next generation of bush carers! A big thank you to Rob. Hopefully, we can hear from Rob about this the next time we meet.
During morning tea at our second activity we discussed the possibility of helping out the Mt Nelson Bushcare Group, but that will not eventuate for the time being.
